Thanksgiving wine, sorted. November's Case of the Month was built for the holiday table, with bottles that pair beautifully with turkey and all the classic sides. And if your menu goes a little off script this year, they've got you covered there too.
The case is stacked with shop favorites, including some local gems and even a white from Swick Wines, the same winemaker who poured at our Friday Night Tasting. Whites, reds, and a little fizz, from Oregon to Spain, Italy, France, and beyond.
The whole case is $240 (reg. $299). That's almost $60 off, which makes it a steal and an easy way to stock up for the holidays.
A Few Highlights From the Case
Illahe Chardonnay, Willamette Valley
A local favorite from one of Oregon's longtime family vineyards. Think green apple, lemon zest, and a clean, mineral finish. Bright enough to cut through gravy and buttery mashed potatoes, and easy to love for the folks who say they "don't drink Chardonnay."
Pair it with: roast turkey, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole.
Haden Fig 2024 Pinot Noir, Willamette Valley
Pinot Noir and Thanksgiving are basically a package deal, and this one is made by Erin Nuccio, who's also the winemaker at Evesham Wood. Juicy cherry, a little warm spice, and light enough to play nice with everything on the plate.
Pair it with: turkey (light or dark meat), cranberry sauce, herby stuffing.
Paltrinieri Solco Lambrusco, Italy
Yes, a sparkling red. Paltrinieri is a benchmark name for Lambrusco, and Solco is bubbly, berry-forward, and a total crowd-pleaser, with fresh strawberry and cherry and a light, fizzy finish. Pour it while everyone's hovering around the kitchen.
Pair it with: the snack board, a Thanksgiving ham, or a Friendsgiving lasagna.
López de Heredia 2018 Viña Cubillo Crianza, Rioja, Spain
From the oldest winery in Haro, founded in 1877. Cubillo is their "everyday" bottle, but it still spends three years in old American oak. Blackberry, plum, a little tobacco, and dried herbs. It drinks way above its price.
Pair it with: prime rib, roast lamb, or a smoked brisket swap for the bird.
Three Wine Company 2020 Old Vines Zinfandel, California
Made from Zinfandel vines that are more than 100 years old. Brambly, spicy, and rich, with ripe plum and berry. This is your bottle for a smoked or deep-fried turkey.
Pair it with: smoked turkey, candied yams, cornbread stuffing, leftover turkey sandwiches.
Herència Altés Garnatxa Negra, Spain
Grenache from the Catalan hills, with fresh raspberry and currant and smooth, easy tannins. Versatile, juicy, and great with bold flavors.
Pair it with: turkey tamales, mole, or anything with a little spice.
Swick Wines Columbia Valley White, Oregon
If you made it to Friday's tasting, you already know. Joe Swick's natural, hands-off style shows up here, fresh and lively with plenty of acidity. If you missed it, here's your chance to take one home.
Pair it with: the appetizer spread, roasted squash, or Thanksgiving leftovers the next day.
