The blog is back with new weekly wine recommendations!

What a crazy ride 2020 has been so far! We are so grateful for your continued support as we navigate the evolution of COVID-19. We miss seeing you in the shop enjoying a glass of wine and browsing the wine wall in search of the perfect pour.

To help keep your cups full of tasty new wines, we are bringing the blog back! Each week we will introduce you to some of our favorite new arrivals and a “Geek of the Week” (in other words a funky/quirky wine).

Don’t worry, this won’t replace our Friday Night “Hey, What’s That Guy Drinking” Virtual Tastings. You can still give Travis virtual cheers every Friday from 5-6 pm on our Facebook Page. If you haven’t already, sign up for our emails to get each week’s tasting lineup. You can sign up at the bottom of this blog post.

So without further ado, our weekly wine recommendations.

New Arrivals

2018 Chateau de la Ragotiere 'Les Vieilles Vignes' Muscadet, $17
Grapes: 100% Melon de Borgogne

Tasting Notes: Super approachable, fresh-tasting white from the Loire valley in France. Delicate floral aromatics, racy acidity, green apple and citrus peel. Delish. Drink on its own, or pair with shellfish or herbed roast chicken.

2019 Crowley Rose, $20
Grapes: 100% Pinot Noir

Tasting Notes: One of the bottle shop's favorite Willamette Valley producers just released another great pink drink. Plump, round texture, but balanced with clean acidity. Mandarin orange and green watermelon on the palate, with a hint of minty herbs on the finish. So good! This wine screams for the sunshine.

2018 El Casetero Tinto, $14
Grapes: 100% Garnacha

Tasting Notes: El Casetero is a winery that is part of a viticulture Co-op located in Northeastern Spain, just a hop and a jump from Barcelona. This red is a fluid, fruity, and juicy wine that still remains light on the palate. Abundant tart red cherries and red plum, with just enough minerality in the finish to make this wine both interesting and extremely tasty. This is a great burger wine!

Geek of the Week

2018 Antica Enotria Bianco, $15
Grapes: 50% Fiano, 50% Falanghina

Tasting Notes: Stellar wine at a nice price from Puglia, which is the heel of the boot of Italy. Organic and sustainably farmed. The Fiano imparts a nice rich texture and mouthfeel, and the Falanghina delivers generous white peach and yellow pear fruits. This wine would be perfect with a selection of salty and creamy cheeses, and summer fruits.
