International Pinot Noir Day

Today is International Pinot Noir Day! As such, this week we would like to focus our recommendations on some of our favorite local Pinot’s, as well as a couple of fun, but perhaps more obscure offerings from around the world. We hope you enjoy these selections!

New Arrivals and Staff Picks

NV Olivier Morin Cremant de Bourgogne brut Rose, $20
Grapes: 100% Pinot Noir

Tasting Notes: Sparkling Pinot Noir Rose from Burgundy, France.  Nice tangy red raspberry fruit, easy drinking with a dry finish. Great $20 bottle of bubbles!

2019 Soter ‘North Valley’ Rose, $28
Grapes: 100% Pinot Noir

Tasting Notes: Great local still rose. Forward Hood strawberry fruit on the palette, with under-ripe peach and clean acidity in the finish. So good!

2016 St. Innocent ‘Temperance Hill Vineyards’, $43
Grapes:100% Pinot Noir

Tasting Notes: Classic ‘Burgundian’ style, grown right here in the Willamette Valley from long time highly reputable local producers. Lean, crunchy red and blue fruit, zippy acidity, and just a touch of earthy funk. Superb!

Geek of the Week

2013 Podere Ruggeri Corsini ‘Argamakow’, $26
Grapes: 100% Pinot Nero

Tasting Notes: It’s not every day that you see Pinot Nero (Italian for Pinot Noir) grown in the Piedmont region of Northern Italy. This small-batch wine was made in a super unique style: dark fruited, smooth, and pleasantly tannic, with a strong earthy fragrance that is only found in old-world winemaking. Note the 2013 vintage on this one! This wine has some age on it and has definitely begun to reveal layers of depth on the palette.
